MARIA LUCY BEZERRA BENNETT 1925 - 2012. Sadly Lucy passed away at her home in The Ryde in the early hours of December 30, after enduring Alzheimers for 11 years. Born in Fortaleza, Brazil she was a wonderful wife to Brian, mother to Richard, Sandra, Hazel and Raymond, vovo to Mary, Jack, Susana, Georgina, Tess and Leo. Married in 1958 in Rio de Janeiro, she enjoyed varied lifestyles in Brazil, the UK, Guyana, the USA and Luxembourg where her happy and lively nature always won her many friends. Whilst not able to communicate in her closing years she really appreciated the friendliness of neighbours, the kind attention at her brief stays at Oak Cottage, Hyde Valley House, the QE2 and the many lovely carers who so affectionately assisted her at home. Funeral service will take place on Friday, February 1, 2pm at West Herts Crematorium, Garston. Enquiries to Co-operative Funeralcare, Hatfield 01707 276336.
