MEAD Joan Mead late of Oakhill Drive, Welwyn, died on Friday, July 2. Joan was a keen artist and used to meet with friends on Monday afternoons to paint. When they outgrew their homes, Joan founded Welwyn Art Group, who still meet in the Civic Centre, Welwyn. Joan was an indefatigable organiser of outside venues, demonstrations, exhibitions also summer and Christmas lunches. When Joan retired after 25 years her lively personality and enthusiasm were greatly missed. A memorial service for Joan will be held at St Marys Church, Welwyn on Friday, July 17, 12 noon.
