Ingrid Herta Hands

Ingrid Herta Hands (née Kurth) Passed away peacefully in her sleep on 7th March 2023. Born into a German family in the town of Samotschin, in the county of Posen, Poland, on 11th April 1936, she was a resident of England since the late 1950s, and at home in St. Albans for most of her life. In recent years she enjoyed retirement with her many friends and the community of the Lutheran Church, after a long career as a tour-guide, part-time college German language teacher, and mother of two. She will be much missed by many. Her funeral was held at 1pm on Wednesday 5th April, at St. Mary's Church, Marshalswick, St. Albans, but donations dedicated in her name to any charity of your choice would still be much appreciated.

Hello, this is Toby Gerard Parsons, son of Jack & Barbara Parsons, brother to Miranda. When we were little M and I were great friends to Evelyn and Roger, Ingrid's son & daughter with John Hands.
Our families were very close John and Jack having been undergraduates togrther at Keele University. I have very fond memories of Ingrid's 'kaffe und kuchen' on Sunday get-togethers in Whitwell, Herts. Also Ingrid nursed me thru a painful night waiting to go to A&E with a broken wrist (Roger had pursuaded me to jump out of a tree, long story....). A fine example of a fine Anglo/German lady a great person! Much love to her memory, tobyG.
