A mental health clinic in Potters Bar has received a "good" rating following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

Potters Bar Clinic in Barnet Road was inspected on July 25 and August 3 this year, with the report published late last month revealing the facility, run by Elysium Healthcare, had received a good rating in all areas.

"We carried out this unannounced inspection because we received information giving us concerns about the safety and quality of the services," the CQC report stated. 

"We visited the service during the day and on another occasion, during the night time shift."

The ward was praised for being "safe and clean", while staff were credited, with the report noting the "use of restrictive practices was reducing, medicines were managed safely, and staff followed good practice with respect to safeguarding".

"Staff treated young people with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, and understood their individual needs," the report continued. 

"They actively involved young people in their care. Staff planned and managed discharge well."

The wards leadership was also praised, but the report did not that "there were high vacancy rates for qualified nursing staff", and "staff did not always appropriately record and store consent to treatment forms".
