A mother from Hatfield with terminal cancer is set to go on one last holiday with her son after £9,000 was donated to the pair.
Dee Boyes has incurable stage four cancer, having been diagnosed with breast cancer and liver metastases, and was determined to make one last memory with her 17-year-old son, Jack.
A GoFundMe page was set up in October and more than £9,630 has been raised so far, with the pair set to go on holiday to Austria next year.
Dee, who worked at ski resorts when she was younger, is keen to teach Jack how to snowboard.
"After a few deciding factors were put in place, it was decided that we will be doing a ski holiday," read an update from Dee on the GoFundMe.
"Well snowboarding, because if you have seen me ski you'll know its more painful to watch than any cancer diagnosis.
"It will be an opportunity for me to teach Jack how to snowboard, which is something I've wanted to do for many years but unable to.
"He has been so excited at the prospect and over the last few days we have been making plans. I've never been to Austria and so there is a lot of excitement about it all."
Dee was also keen to thank those that have donated, saying: "Thank you for all you kind souls people who are helping Jack and myself, words cannot express our gratitude."
