A care home in Woolmer Green started the Christmas celebrations early with an afternoon of festive fun.
Care UK’s Knebworth home in London Road welcomed relatives and family to join residents in getting into the festive spirit with a very special Christmas fair.
Residents and their relatives donned their favourite Christmas jumpers for an afternoon of mulled wine, mince pies and festive activities. Attendees enjoyed a raffle, tombola and ‘guess the name of the polar bear’ – which resident Shirley was delighted to win.
All money raised from the occasion was used to purchase toys which have been donated to the Salvation Army to be distributed among local children who otherwise might not receive any gifts this Christmas.
71-year-old Anthony Barry a resident at Knebworth, said: “It was a wonderful event – I especially enjoyed the mulled wine!”
Daniel Grab, home manager, added: “We had a wonderful time getting into the festive spirit with our Christmas fair and it’s especially rewarding knowing we’ve made a difference to the community with our donation.
“The residents had a fantastic time sharing their favourite Christmas memories and enjoying a festive tipple with friends and family – it was wonderful to hear everyone sharing their festive traditions and stories.
“Everyone here at Knebworth is now feeling well and truly ready for Christmas and we’re looking forward to continuing the festivities over the coming weeks. Merry Christmas everyone!”
