A teenager from Hatfield has been charged with animal cruelty offences after he was seen "hitting and dragging" a dog.
It was reported that at around 9am on Friday, March 22, a male was dragging a dog by its lead in The Arcade before hitting it, dragging it again and throwing the animal.
Officers conducted enquiries and identified the suspect through CCTV.
A 17-year-old was arrested on Thursday, March 28, and now police have confirmed he has been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
He has been released on conditional bail and is due to appear at Stevenage Youth Court on April 25.
