A man from Welwyn Garden City accused of historic sexual offences is set to appear in court later this month.
Mark Lee, of Stanborough Green, Welwyn Garden City, will appear at St Albans Crown Court on April 30 for a plea and trial preparation hearing, having been accused of raping a woman over the age of 16 between May 2004 and March 2015.
The 62-year-old is also accused of three counts of assault dating from 2019 to 2024, as well as intentional strangulation between June 2022 and March this year.
Lee will is also accused of one count of engage in controlling and coercive behaviour between December 2015 and March 2024.
Court documents state he "continuously engaged in behaviour which was controlling or coercive".
Lee will appear before the judge for the pre-trial hearing and will not be granted bail due to the nature and seriousness of the offence, as well as his likelihood of committing an offence.
