Special artwork has been created by Welwyn families as part of charity Family Action's 'Make Happy Memories' campaign.

The national campaign aims to help families create cherished memories with activities throughout the summer.

Family Action supports families going through difficult times in Welwyn.

The families had a fantastic time creating the personalised canvases as keepsakes, but also enjoyed each other's company and made many unforgettable memories that they may otherwise not have been able to make, according to the charity.

Catherine Salter, Family Action Welwyn Centre, expressed her delight at the success of the activity.

She said: “We decided to create canvas’ with our families. Each child was given a canvas to paint during their family time.

"The families were offered a range of paint and tools, they then worked together to create their masterpiece.

"This would therefore create a lasting memory for them to have together. The canvases turned out better than we thought, the children loved painting with some even doing feet prints.

"All the families were complementary and agreed that this was a great idea in order to create some lasting memories. "

A family member who attended said: “What a lovely idea, this is something I really miss doing, spending time doing messy play with the children. I am happy that they get to keep their canvas for their memory boxes.”
