A new study from Modunite ranks Welwyn Hatfield eighth in new build completions in 2022/23.

The investigation - conducted by architectural visualisation experts - discovered ONS data on the number of new build completions from 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.

Data allowed researchers to identify which authority has seen the biggest increase year-on-year.

Welwyn Hatfield was among the local authorities that saw the highest increase with a whopping 194 per cent of new build completions in 2022-2023.

Data found that between 2021-2022, Welwyn Hatfield completed 170 new build homes in comparison to 500 in 2022-2023.

As a result, house prices have dropped by 0.30 per cent in the same time frame, with an average in 2023 standing at £429,865.

A spokesperson for Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council said: “The delivery of high-quality new and affordable homes is a priority for the council, and we are pleased to see that these are starting to be delivered in greater numbers.

"Following the adoption of our new Local Plan, we expect to see the number of new homes in the borough continue to increase over the next few years, helping to meet the needs of all residents in the borough.”
