Officers rushed to Welwyn Garden City town centre yesterday, but why were they there?
A large police presence gathered at the Travelodge in Fretherne Road at around 2.20pm, with residents keen to find out what was happening.
Herts police has now confirmed officers responded to a concern for welfare report, with a near five-hour stand off taking place before a man was taken to hospital for treatment just before 7.20pm.
"Police were called around 2.20pm yesterday (July 29), following a concern for welfare report at the Travelodge in Fretherne Road, Welwyn Garden City," a spokesperson for the force said.
"Officers attended, alongside the ambulance service, and a man was taken to hospital for treatment just before 7.20pm."
