Plans for a towering 18-metre 5G mast in Welwyn Garden City have been withdrawn after pressure from a campaign group.
The proposal, submitted by EE UK Ltd and H3G UK Ltd, would have seen a monopole, antennas, dishes and cabinets built in Pollards Close.
A design document submitted as part of the plans confirmed the application was made following the loss of a mast at Norton Abrasives due to redevelopment.
But, the application was withdrawn on July 30, after a number of objections and a campaign set up by residents put pressure on the plans.
"The community impacted has come together to strongly object to this development," said a member of the group before the plans were withdrawn.
"The objections to the council are being submitted every day. Posters about objecting to the plans have gone up and neighbours are visiting door-to-door to support each other with the process of raising an objection.
"For this much loved green space this is a continued story, it has already suffered heavily in the last 15 years from being built on and industrialised."
A decision notice from Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council read: "With respect to the above mentioned application, I write to advise you that it has been withdrawn."
