Annie Brewster JP, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, recently launched a permanent virtual orienteering event at Stanborough Lakes in Welwyn Garden City.
At the event on August 10, the venture introduced three ‘Find Your Way’ courses, accessible via mobile phone for participant involvement whenever they like.
Hertfordshire Orienteering Club and British Orienteering volunteers initiated more than 45 participants, joining them in navigating the new routes.
The club hosts free events across the county, promoting exploration of nearby areas in different ways.
Elizabeth Disney, project manager of the Stanborough event, said: "It was wonderful seeing young people, families and others enjoying our new courses.
"We’re looking forward to our new information board being installed near the Splashlands kiosk, where anyone will find help to get started at any time."
