Church managers want to use an office building in Welwyn Garden City as their new place of worship.

Fountain of Life, which has a congregation of around 120 people, currently welcomes people to worship at a building in Howards Gate.

But they have now asked Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council for permission to use Arundel House in Garnell Business Park as the new church.

Fountain of Life also hopes to use the building’s ground floor – currently a warehouse – as a foodbank, and the first floor – currently an office – as a contact centre.

They are not intending to make any structural alterations to the building.

The church is part of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, a Pentecostal denomination with headquarters in Nigeria and almost 10 million members globally.

Fountain of Life runs its own bus in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield to bring congregants to services, held at 10am on Sundays.

Arundel House – which is currently advertised for rent by Simpsons, a commercial property agent, at £5,805 per month – has on-site car parking available. Fountain of Life’s application argues that it is unlikely their move would lead to a significant build-up of traffic around Garnell Business Park.
