Isabel Hospice is hosting its first face-to-face annual meeting in six years.

The meeting, titled 'Together for Tomorrow: The Power of Community in Isabel Care', is scheduled for Thursday, October 10, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Tesco Head Office in Welwyn Garden City.

The get-together looks to bring together supporters, volunteers and the eastern Hertfordshire community.

The evening's agenda is aimed at communicating the critical palliative care undertakings of Isabel Hospice, and its acclaimed Compassionate Communities initiative.

Attendees can expect to network with peers while engaging with the Isabel Hospice team.

Dr Helen Glenister, CEO of Isabel Hospice, will share insights on the hospice's accomplishments over the previous year during the event.

She said: "We are thrilled to bring our community together again after six years for an evening of connection, reflection, and forward-thinking.

"'Together for Tomorrow’ is not just a theme, but a testament to the collective

strength and compassion that drives our work.

"This event embodies our commitment to working collaboratively with our supporters and local community to continue providing exceptional care and support to those who need it most."

The programme is set to spotlight critical topics such as the hospice's plans for the future and the essential role the community plays in delivering care.

External speakers, such as Dr Libby Sallnow from UCL Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Department, will shed light on death, dying, and grieving and how collective efforts can significantly impact these aspects.

The hospice urges those interested in attending to RSVP via isabelhospice.org.uk/events/annual-meeting by Monday, September 30.

Early registration is encouraged as spaces are limited.

Welwyn Garden City-based Isabel Hospice has been offering free care to patients and their families since 1982.

Their mission is not without expenses, requiring nearly £7 million raised each year to continue offering care to the Eastern Hertfordshire community.

They cater to a significant number of patients annually across several services.

The charity's award-winning and eco-friendly Tonnes of Care initiative has saved 25,000 tonnes from landfill since its launch in 2022.
