A macabre circus is coming to Hertfordshire with a spooky Halloween show.
The Circus of Horrors will be at Hertford Theatre on Thursday, November 3.
The former Britain’s Got Talent stars celebrate their 21st anniversary with their latest incarnation, The Never-Ending Nightmare.
The spectacular show features an amazing amalgamation of bizarre, brave and beautiful acts, all woven into an Alice in Horrorland-type story driven by a mainly original soundscape and performed with a forked tongue firmly in each cheek.
One of the stars of the show, Hannibal Hellmuerto, recently sold part of his ear in an auction.
When the sword swallower from the infamous Circus of Horrors had a Vincent Van Gogh moment and cut off his earlobe, he didn’t envisage selling it in an auction.
Hellmuerto had stretched his earlobes to an astonishing 62mm as part of his body modification programme – he also has a body covered in tattoos, as well as forked tongue, floating ribs and mammoth ivory teeth.
However, as the skin got thinner around the earlobe, he was worried that it would break.
He tried superglue but that wore off after a while, so his only course of action was to have them cut off and stitched back together.
He then decided to pickle the earlobes that had been cut off and sell them at The Auction of Horrors.
It is not the first time Hannibal has been in the news.
The former German tax inspector left his native Germany to join The Circus of Horrors.
However, on two occasions he split his oesophagus and ended up in intensive care, the last time after attempting to swallow a lit neon tube.
He then turned his hand to hypnotism but accidentally hypnotised himself while practising in a mirror.
Hannibal said: “After the hypnotist incident I decided to go back to sword swallowing. It seemed much safer.”
The Circus of Horrors will be at Hertford Theatre on November 3.
The show starts at 7.45pm.
