Schoolchildren have spread festive cheer all around Hertsmere with their Christmas card designs.
Ten-year-old Katie Brazil from Ladbrooke JMI School in Potters Bar, and nine-year-old Alfie Finn from Aldenham Prep have been named the overall winners of this year’s contest.
Over 100 entries for Hertsmere Borough Council’s 2022 seasonal card competition were received by primary school pupils, and five talented young artists were chosen to receive prizes and attend a prize-giving presentation with the Mayor of Hertsmere John Graham, on Friday, November 25.

Alfie’s bold and bright design featuring a variety of festive figures was as the council’s corporate e-card.
Katie’s cheery ‘Merry Christmas’ wording surrounded by Christmas-themed objects has been named as the Mayor of Hertsmere’s card.
Cllr Graham said: “I was honoured to judge this year’s contest and to meet the young artists who had put so much time and effort into their designs.
“The standard of entries was high as ever, which made my decision very difficult! I would like to thank everyone who took part – we really appreciate the support our competition receives from schools and the local community each year.”
All the entries will be available to view on the front window of our Civic Offices throughout December to spread Christmas cheer.
