There were countless smiles and happy faces as 120 children participated in the Sports Festival at Welwyn Garden City's Polish Saturday School.
The festival, on Saturday, May 20, was made possible thanks to collaboration with local partners and agencies, as well as the support from parents and volunteers.
The sports day was a culmination of the Polish Saturday School's events and activities emphasising physical fitness - including self-defence classes with GCSE students, volleyball sessions for younger students and fitness sessions for parents.
Cllr Michal Siewniak commented on the "fantastic weather" and added: "It showed that with a bit of funding, imagination and good planning, you can really 'move mountains'."
Chair of the Polish Saturday School Iwona Pniewska, said: "Sport always bring people together and often makes it enjoyable.
"Our Sports Day was also an example of great fun. The message of the day was that Polish School is not only about getting up in the morning on Saturday but also about having a good time and sport most definitely provides that platform."
Anna Skiba, who is a trustee of the Polish Saturday School, added: "Sport is an integral part of education. We all know how important physical activities are not only for the kids’ physical health, but also for their mental wellbeing.
"Thanks to Active Local funding available via the Hertfordshire Sports Partnership, our school could offer various sport activities to our pupils and parents, to give them the opportunity to try something different and new.
