Two theatre companies return to the gardens of Knebworth House this summer to perform Romeo and Juliet and The Wizard of Oz.
The Lord Chamberlain's Men will perform Shakespeare's tragic love story Romeo and Juliet on the Sunken Lawn of Knebworth House on Sunday, August 6.
Then on Thursday, August 24, the multi award-nominated Immersion Theatre Company invite you to click your heels and ease on down the Yellow Brick Road as they proudly present a brand-new adaptation of The Wizard of Oz.

With a history stretching back to William Shakespeare himself, The Lord Chamberlain's Men present Romeo and Juliet as the Bard first saw it, in the open air, with an all-male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.
Talking about what audiences can look forward to from one of their shows, artistic director and producer Peter Stickney said: “Seeing a production from The Lord Chamberlain’s Men is a unique experience.
"Sitting under the same stars that Shakespeare did and seeing his plays performed as he first saw them – with an all-male cast, in the open air and with Elizabethan costume, music and dance – is intoxicating.”
Later in the month, Immersion Theatre Company will be coming to Knebworth House with a production of The Wizard of Oz.
Join Dorothy on her quest to the Emerald City as she and her loyal friends - the brainless but cheeky scarecrow, the cowardly lion, and the heartless tin man - navigate through a magical land in search of the mighty and mysterious, Wizard of Oz.
With the Wicked Witch of the West determined to stop them by any means necessary, however, will the spirit of friendship triumph over evil?
Immersion Theatre’s artistic director, James Tobias, has written and is directing the show, which features a host of new songs.
He said: “I am incredibly excited to be directing the show for the sixth time! I always look forward to reviving this show in particular. It’s a firm audience favourite and for good reason!”
The Garden Theatre performances will be performed in the open-air on the Sunken Lawn of Knebworth House. Picnics, chairs, and blankets are all welcome.
