Welwyn Hatfield’s emergency services came together at the weekend to host an event for residents celebrating Pride.
The event took place at Welwyn Garden City fire station on Saturday, August 12, and was attended by police, fire and ambulance, water rescue and the mental health charity MIND.
Officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighbourhood Team were on hand to speak to residents and help with any concerns. The event ran from 11am to 3pm and included a quiet hour between 11am and midday where sirens were turned off for those who struggle with loud noises.
PCSO Amy Martin, who attended the event, said: “This was a brilliant community event, marking Herts Pride, which will be celebrated at Cassiobury Park in Watford on Saturday, August 19.

"We will always stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and you can be assured that if you ever need to report a hate crime, we will treat you sensitively and take you seriously.
“We work closely with our emergency service colleagues and I would like to thank the fire service for organising this event.
“Community events are vital in helping us understand the needs of the public. The event was also attended by local councillors and we had very useful conversations with them.
"In particular, we spoke about dementia and the importance of the emergency services having a good understanding of it.
“I would like to thank everybody who came along and I hope that all those celebrating at Herts Pride this weekend have a great time.”
