Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps has condemned "Hamas’ horrific actions", while Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has confirmed their clock tower will be lit up blue and white tonight to show solidarity with the people of Israel.
More than 700 people have been killed in Israel since Hamas launched its attacks on Saturday morning, including 260 at the Supernova Festival near the Gaza Strip.
Jake Marlowe, from Potters Bar, was among those at the festival and is reported missing.
Welwyn Hatfield MP and defence secretary Grant Shapps condemned the attacks in a post on X - formerly known as Twitter.
"Israel has the right to defend itself," he said.
"The UK supports that absolute right, as we always will, and stands with the people of Israel today - because Hamas’ horrific actions cannot be described as anything other than terrorist attacks designed to kill innocent civilians."

The UK supports that absolute right, as we always will, and stands with the people of Israel today - because Hamas’ horrific actions cannot be described as anything other than terrorist attacks designed to kill innocent civilians.
And Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has now confirmed the clock tower at its office in The Campus, Welwyn Garden City, will be lit with the colours of Israel tonight in a show of "solidarity".
"Following last weekend's horrific attacks on Israel, tonight we will be lighting our Clock Tower in blue and white to show our solidarity with the people of Israel," WHBC confirmed.
