St Etheldreda's Church in Hatfield is holding a chamber music concert to raise money to redevelop the building's west end.

The Gamay wind ensemble and friends, incorporating five wind instruments, seven strings and a piano, will perform at the church at 7.30pm on Sunday, October 22.

The concert will open with Beethoven's famous septet for wind and strings, followed by a piano trio, a selection of light-hearted music for the wind quintet, and Mozart's Piano Concerto No.23.

This year the church has acquired a new grand piano, and the musicians say they "hope to do it justice".

Refreshments will be available during the interval, including wine and soft drinks. Accessible toilets are available in nearby Stable Yard, Hatfield House - as there are not yet toilets at the church.

Parking is available in the Georges Gate car park with access to the church, thanks to Hatfield House.

There is no charge for entry, but the church is welcoming donations to the West End Project.

The scheme aims to redevelop the west end of the 900-year-old church, creating a new, enclosed multi-purpose parish room with a mezzanine floor and associated amenities - including toilets (with one disabled toilet) and a kitchen.

Anyone with questions or special requirements ahead of the concert can get in touch by emailing chris@goward.com or calling 01707 265213.
