British Transport Police (BTP) are investigating after a "number of cars" were reportedly vandalised at Potters Bar railway station on Sunday, October 15.
The Welwyn Hatfield Times understands that at least four cars were damaged on the same day - all during daylight hours.
One of the people affected spoke to us about the "heartbreaking" incident, which she thinks was likely to be "malicious" - and has left her facing a quote of £1,700 to repair the damage to her car.
She had parked at the railway station on the Sunday morning, before heading into London to celebrate her birthday.
On her return at around 5pm, she found that her Audi had been badly scratched in several places, seemingly by a key.
The lady believes that she may have inadvertently left a portion of the car overhanging a pedestrian walkway, incurring the wrath of the apparent vandal.

The walkway is not raised, and is located between a fence and the parking spaces adjacent to the zebra crossing that connects the railway station to the footpath from Laurel Avenue.
The woman we spoke to believes that signage should be erected to ensure that drivers are aware of the walkway so that they can avoid parking over it.
The Welwyn Hatfield Times has seen photos of one of the other cars that was reportedly damaged. Messages were carved into multiple panels around the outside of the car, suggesting that the vandal took issue with their parking.
A spokesperson for BTP said "enquiries are ongoing", and asked anyone with information to contact them by texting 61016 and quoting reference 2300122834.
