Lighting on a bridge in Welwyn Garden City has been restored after a campaign led by MP Grant Shapps.
Hunters Bridge was plunged into darkness after a heavy goods vehicle collided with a lighting column, but a joint campaign between Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council's Handside councillor Fiona Thomson has seen lighting restored.
The pair pushed Hertfordshire County Council to carry out the important work, with Mr Shapps saying: "The footpath is used by hundreds every day, so I’m glad the lighting is to be repaired.
"Councillor Thomson and I made sure the county council are aware how much this walkway is used, and it’s positive they’ve listened and acted quickly.
"I’m always on the lookout for local issues like this which need resolving - Welwyn Hatfield residents can always contact me direct on grant@shapps.com."
