Potters Bar residents could make a former Gogglebox star their next MP after he was selected as a Labour candidate.
Josh Tapper, who appeared on the Channel 4 programme between 2013 and 2017, will be vying to unseat Hertsmere's current Tory MP Oliver Dowden at the next general election.
After appearing on the show, he joined the civil service and volunteered for cancer care charities and foodbanks. He is also a trustee of Homeless Action in Barnet.
The 26-year-old said: “I’m thrilled and honoured to have been selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Hertsmere.
“Thank you so much to local members for your support - I won’t let you down.
“The work to unseat the Deputy Prime Minister starts now.”

As well as Gogglebox, the Mr Tapper has also appeared on television to talk politics as a guest, including on TalkTV and Jeremy Vine.
Taking the seat could be a tall order as Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden holds a 21,313-strong majority after receiving 62.5 per cent of the vote in 2019.
Emma Matanle, a policy analyst who previously worked for the UN, was announced as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Hertsmere last year.
