A Labour shadow cabinet minister has visited Tesco's Welwyn Garden City HQ.
MP Steve Reed, shadow secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs, joined Andrew Lewin, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Welwyn Hatfield to meet with senior managers from Tesco on Tuesday (April 16).
They visited the supermarket's food development kitchens and discussed local jobs, with around 6,000 people locally employed by the retailer.
They also spoke about supermarket supplier relationships with farmers and healthier food options for customers on store shelves.

"Labour is the party of business and will back British suppliers and growers," said Mr Reed.
"It was fantastic to visit Welwyn Hatfield and develop our dialogue with Tesco about the best way to back British jobs, British retailers and British farmers."
Mr Lewin added: "It is a priority for me to build close relationships with businesses across Welwyn Hatfield, from Tesco through to ambitious new entrepreneurs.
"It was inspiring to meet a senior director who works for Tesco at Shire Park and started their career on the graduate scheme 20 years ago. I want young people growing up in our community to have access to similar opportunities and be able to build a career in the place they grew up."
