This year's Complete University Guide has seen Hertfordshire drop one place, from 83rd to 84th in the national university rankings.
The guide grades universities of a range of factors including entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects.
The University of Hertfordshire was awarded a 59 per cent grade overall, with 56 per cent entry standards, 79 per cent student satisfaction, 76 per cent research quality and 72 per cent graduate prospects.
A spokesperson for the university said: “We are pleased to see we were ranked highest in the East of England for student satisfaction in this year’s Complete University Guide, and the rankings of many of our courses increase.

The University of Cambridge topped the guide's ranking, with a 100 per cent overall score. This was followed by Oxford on 96 per cent.
