Phone thieves targeted festivalgoers at Hatfield's Slam Dunk music event.

In a message sent out on Hertfordshire Constabulary's new Herts Connected platform, police revealed about 40 mobile phones were recovered at the Slam Dunk Festival South in Hatfield yesterday (Saturday).

Police say security at the music festival in Hatfield Park spotted suspicious behaviour and alerted the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Two men were arrested and they are currently in police custody.

The Herts Connected message continued: "Police set up a tent to reunite festivalgoers with their phones yesterday.

"As a result, the majority were quickly reunited with their phones and we are keen to find the owners of the remaining phones."

Anyone who has lost or suspects their phone has been stolen is asked to email Danny.Kachouh@herts.police.uk or you can report online at www.herts.police.uk/report quoting reference ISR 104 of 23 May.

Slam Dunk posted on the festival's social media a warning to ticket holders on Saturday evening about the suspected mobile phone thefts.

A statement read: "We are saddened to report that unfortunately we have been targeted by phone thieves.

"As always, we are doing our very best to try and prevent this, however, please familiarise yourself with our phone theft information in the unfortunate event of an incident.

"A special thank you to those who had read our information and reported these incidents on site today, we are happy to share that we have been able to catch some of the suspects."
