A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug offences after a raid in Welwyn Garden City.

Officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a warrant in The Commons after residents raised concerns about drugs at the property.

Officers seized nearly 1kg of cannabis, 5kg of cannabis edibles and three offensive weapons. Designer goods worth thousands of pounds were also seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

A 35-year-old man from Welwyn Garden City was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply, possession of an offensive weapon and profiting from or concealing knowledge of the proceeds of crime.

"We are committed to stopping the drugs trade in Welwyn Hatfield and I hope this news reassures residents that we are taking action," said PC Aiden Sims.

"As well as the drugs, the warrant has resulted in dangerous weapons being seized.
