Hi readers. My name is Nina and I am a Very Special dog at Southridge, but for a sad reason. I am one of the longest stay residents here and am feeling so despondent and hopeless, wondering why no one wants me - a beautiful dog both inside and out. All I want is the opportunity to be your best friend and share love, hugs and fun with you.
You may have seen me featured here previously, but I will tell you my story again, as you might have missed it, or just need a gentle reminder that I am still waiting for a special person or family like you to come along and make my dream come true.
I came to Southridge RSPCA almost 2 years ago as a bewildered pooch, after being rescued by an RSPCA Inspector. Although details of my past life are scant, all I can say is my earlier life was not easy and lacked love, affection and the attention any dog deserves. Although I have experienced that love and kindness here in abundance, inevitably I find life in kennels difficult and at times lonely, and I am desperate for a new family and home of my own.
I am of mixed heritage, quite big, approximately 5 year old, and of course my size makes me a strong dog. But please don't let that put you off as being smart, I understand good manners and walk politely on lead, only occasionally forgetting myself when I see a canine I feel unsure of (mostly I ignore other dogs), so do need someone experienced with dogs. I can sit, stay and shake paws and am fond of treats. My hobbies include walking, playing football and running, but I also love nothing more than cuddles, gentle pats and strokes.
Sandra, an experienced volunteer dog walker who knows me well says "Nina does love being scratched on her back and tummy, plus she likes a cuddle and rolls over on her back. She is delightful and well loved by staff and volunteers, but has a great smile for her favourites."
So if you are an active family either adult only or with older teenage children, looking for a big cuddly girl to snuggle up on the sofa with you, after a walk and game of ball, have a secure fenced garden and no other pets, here I am, your perfect doggie friend. Please, please open your home and heart to me, a deserving, sad and lovely girl.
Southridge has said that a foster home is also a possibility for me, somewhere I can live happily until my permanent family comes along - could you consider this? Thanks.
