Three University of Hertfordshire graduates have been recognised as part of the Hatfield Heroes series.

The Galleria shopping centre in Hatfield has chosen to honour the graduates for their academic achievements and contributions to the community.

The first graduate to be recognised is Drusilla Jacobs, who recently completed her Master of Pharmacy degree with first-class honours.

She was also awarded the Gold Go Herts Award, an initiative by the university to help students develop skills and improve employability.

The second Hatfield Hero is Saqlain Abbas, an international student who graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree, specialising in international commercial law and land law.

He was nominated for a Dean’s Award as a "Grace Ononiwu Rising Star on the LLB."

Saqlain said: "In the end, hard work truly pays off. I graduated with good marks, making my family, teachers, and myself proud."

Siria is also a CrossFit champion and plans to continue her studies with a part-time doctoral degree while continuing her athletic career.

She said: "At the beginning, I wasn’t particularly confident in my abilities... but I realised I was just as capable, because everything had its structure and procedure that could be learnt."

"We’re delighted to honour their achievements this month, but also celebrate all those recent graduates from the University of Hertfordshire that have worked so hard to achieve in their individual fields.

"It’s no mean feat to achieve a degree, so Drusilla, Saqlain, and Siria are aptly joining our ‘Hatfield Heroes Series’ in honour of their efforts.

"We hope this recognition of their efforts will inspire others to follow in their footsteps."
