Police have joined the community at an event to celebrate Diwali in Hatfield.
On Saturday (October 26), Hatfield town centre filled with crowds to mark the festival.
A special event had been organised by the Indian Cultural Association of Hertfordshire. It included food stalls, dance performances and jewellery stalls. There was also a DJ and Henna was on offer.
The Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) attended the event to host a stall and celebrate with the Indian community.
PCs Mitch Cartwright and James Holt-Whittall attended along with PCSOs Casey Phillips and Anne Devine.
PCSO Devine, from the NPT, said: “We had a brilliant time at the event and there was a great atmosphere.
“It was good to chat to the Indian community and it was also lovely that so many people from other backgrounds had come along too.
“It’s important that all our diverse communities feel supported by the police and hopefully our attendance at the event reassures the public that we take that commitment seriously.
“From all of us at Welwyn Hatfield Police, we would like to wish a very happy Diwali to all those who celebrate!”
