Potters Bar came away from another trip to Essex with an incredible draw.
The East League Division One South clash at Brentwood ended in a 5-5 stalemate but that only tells a small portion of the story.
The men's first team of the Dame Alice Owen's-based hockey club were 3-0 down in 10 minutes and trailed 5-3 at the break before completing the comeback.
There was still frustration at the end though because they had more of the possession in the contest and will feel they should have earned all three points.
Once they recovered from the blitzkrieg start from the hosts, they found their feet.
Ed Whybrow pulled one back at the far post following a short corner and in short order Jay Jay Burn had a second after good work from Mark Turpin.
The sides then traded goals with a strike from James McCormick sandwiched in between two Brentwood efforts.
The second period was a cagier affair but Bar got back to within one when Hugh Kenney-Herbert rolled the ball into an empty net from a Bar short corner.
James Brooking thought he'd equalised with a shot into the top corner but the umpire had already given a short corner.
And it was from another set-piece that Kenney-Herbert managed to find the leveller.
The point lifts them above Bedford and out of the bottom two, and they will now turn their attentions to a home match with Old Loughtonians on Saturday.
The seconds lost 2-1 to Southgate, Hugo Pomian the scorer, and the fourths were beaten 3-1 by St Albans with Matthew Fretter on target.
The threes, however, maintained top spot in Division Four South West with a Warren Edmondson hat-trick giving them a 3-2 win over St Albans.
The ladies' teams were all inactive.
