Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club once again enjoyed conditions that were far better than forecast.
It may have been grey overhead but it was far from windless.
Nina Ferguson took the opportunity to try out a more powerful boat only to find stronger wind than she expected to cope with.
The light and shifty conditions rewarded tacking and gybing smoothly and at the right time.
Roger Morse dominated the racing taking the overall honours with two wins in the fast fleet and overall.
Charles Adams was winner of the slow fleet and tied with David Lambert as runner up overall.
Paul Lohr was second and Ferguson third in the slow fleet with Tony Hale third in the fast fleet.
One week earlier there had been some fascinating racing in yet more good conditions.
The first race was a typical pursuit race, with the faster boats and more experienced helms coming through the fleet to take the podium positions.
Alan Campbell was first with Lambert in the other Supernova dinghy second.
Adams struggling with his rudder was third.
Race two looked to be over after just one lap as the fleet concertinaed with only Adams clear ahead.
The fleet were then trapped in a windless patch while Adams increased his lead but he was eventually caught, Campbell taking his second win with less than a lap to go.
Lambert was best of the rest.
The top junior was Angelo Hansen, with brother Francis second, but both found out the hard way that you can lose a lot of places in the last minutes of a pursuit race.
