Annette Walter gave yet another masterclass in sailing as she lithely moved around the field at Welwyn Garden City.
Extracting every advantage she could from the breeze at the Stanborough Lakes-based club, she headed downwind to sail by the lee on several occasions and gain an extra burst of speed.
Having won race one, race two looked to be heading the same way right up to the end when her mainsheet caught the mark and stopped her in her tracks, almost giving Alan Campbell the opportunity to snatch victory.
Campbell had spent most of the morning tussling with Dave Lambert with very close racing with them finishing with honours even – a second and a third each.
Behind Angelo Hansen and Charles Adams had a similar tussle ending with a third and a fourth each, Adams benefitting from the stronger wind in race two that caused both Angelo and younger brother Francis to practise their capsize drill several times.
