Garden City Runners parkrun highlights saw exactly 100 take part - with the furthest traveller being Alex Faulkner.

She was at the River Oaks Parkrun, on the edge of Toronto.

And despite it being her first full 5k run in 12 weeks after recovery from a fractured pelvis, she was able to finish as the first female.

Back home at Panshanger, Tom Buzzard was fourth, Chris Eland sixth and Joe Ansbro seventh.

For the ladies, Felicity Wadley was sixth.

Elsewhere James Huish and Caroline Hales were both second at Stevenage while Alex Newman-Smith was second overall at Sizewell and Lucy Iles was third lady at Queen Elizabeth.

Daniel Pudner was second at Thames Path and Jamie Rose was third at Dunstable Downs.

Chris Jones finished 39th in the Newark Half Marathon in a time of 1:18:42.

The club also handed over a record cheque at the Welwyn Festival charities' presentation night.

The £8,810 raised came from the Welwyn 10k team with race director Barbara Kubis-Labiak confirming that race day had been a great success following the switch to Panshanger Park.
