There were plenty of autumnal marathons and half marathons for Garden City Runners to sink their teeth into this week.
Five GCRs set out up the A1 for the Peterborough Half, also known as the Great Eastern Run.
The route was a winding one that went through the city and past the cathedral but it was also flat and that opened up the possibilities of fast times.
Katy Healy was the first to finish in one hour 54 minutes with Jo Grant and Sam Males coming at 2:03.
Louise Beale and Anne Henson were six minutes behind them.
Richard Darley and Helen Stafford were in Amsterdam for another flat and fast event
Darley ran the half in Half Marathon and after having to chase back up to his two-hour pacers, catching them after 6k, he came home just shy of 1:57.
Helen Stafford ran twice as far and recorded a marathon PB of 3:43:26.
Valerie Levison ran the Cabbage Patch 10 mile race in Twickenham and despite less than ideal training, she recorded a PB, shaving 10 minutes off her previous standard.
Ultra marathons were also on the agenda for some from GCR.
The Gatliff 50k, a self-navigated run through Kent and Surrey, attracted Nick Genever and he overcame the confusing instructions to finish in 6:51.
The Run to the Sea Bournemouth had four from the club involved.
Starting at Moors Valley Country Park, 18k north of Bournemouth, the event headed west on forest trails, before turning south through Poole and finishing with an 11km stretch along the seafront.
It is billed as a PB course and three of the four managed just that, although the distance meant that not many previous attempts had been made.
Peter Jasko was the first to finish in 4:59:14 with Steve Ellerd-Elliott in 5:02:32.
Andrew Ackrill then came home in 5:19:11 with Stu Whitford a little over two minutes behind in 5:21:26.
Dave Goosetree returned to the Great South Run for the first time in 10 years.
Then he had just began running and so he was able to finish the 10 mile event in 1:32:54, a huge 44 minutes quicker than a decade ago.
Daniel Pudner and Martha Hall ran in the Cambridge Town & Gown 10k representing Herts in the Intercounties 10k Championship.
Pudner finished in 33:33 and Hall in 39:11 but both male and female Herts teams were pipped by Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
The Palma Half in Mallorca saw Ali Eroglu and Colin Grace take part.
They had originally planned to do the full marathon but injury problems meant that switched to the half distance.
Heavy rain delayed the start by an hour but they were able to get going in dry and favourable conditions.
