Potters Bar Town saw a two-goal lead wiped out by two home penalties for Bognor Regis Town.
Brandon Adams had scored twice for the Scholars, once in the first half and then via the penalty spot, nine minutes after the break.
However, Bognor pulled one back three minutes later and then equalised 13 minutes from time, both from Tommy-Lee Higgs and both from 12 yards as the Isthmian League Premier Division game finished 2-2.
Bar boss, Max Mitchell, though felt the performance was impressive, especially considering they had not had a league game since a 1-1 draw against Carshalton Athletic on February 6.
He said: "It was full of intent and full of purpose for a group that hasn't played in quite a while.
"In terms of their effort, I couldn't fault any of them.
"With the scenario of the game, we recognise we may have got two points more but to come away to a side like Bognor, who don't get beat or don't lose too many point here, is credit to the players and I am proud of them.
"Bognor are a team who have a lot of possession but said we had to stick to our game plan. We did that for long periods.
"We tried to make decisions and substitutions at the right times, which I felt was needed.
"Leigh [Rose] has come off with a knock and Isaac [Currie] has come off with a knock so we are a little bit walking wounded but I thought we managed the game quite well.
"We've conceded two penalties and we have to do better in those moments but in terms of our out of possession bits, we got behind the ball and we frustrated them. We did that really well."
Adams' brace took his tally for the season up to 14 for the campaign, even more impressive considering he missed most of October and November with injury as well as having a knock in recent weeks.
"He's been out injured for two weeks but he has done his recovery right," said Mitchell.
"His performance, his work rate, his energy and his prowess in front of goal was there for all to see.
"He took his first one really well. His movement to get in behind was very good and the finish from such an acute angle is testament of how good he is in the box."
The Scholars also had two debutants against the Rocks.
One is well known, Kasim Aidoo making a return to the club after a spell with Haringey Borough, while Michael Buckmaster is a first-year scholar with League One Stevenage.
"We made two changes," said Mitchell. "We didn't think Rickie [Hayles] would make it and Michael had come in to get his first taste of senior football.
"He'll learn a lot from that.
"We know what Kas can do and he was excellent - on the front foot, made some really good decisions in the final third and I felt he was a big threat.
"He's another player who can make a big impact towards the back end of the season.
"We have a lot of games to catch up and we need a little more depth in terms of the squad but we've been proactive in the last few weeks when we've had that rest."
The Scholars have also announced that their Herts Charity Cup final clash with St Albans City, scheduled for March 5 at Hemel Hempstead Town, has been postponed to allow them to fit in a rearranged league game with Hastings United.
