If you're going to win, then win in a nine-goal thriller seems to be Welwyn Garden City's mantra this season.
The Citizens had previously shared nine goals with Ware, winning 5-4 at home in December.
And they repeated the trick although this time on their travels at Biggleswade's temporary home at Bedford Town.
But while manager Marc Weatherstone would have been pleased with the victory and being back in action after only two games in the whole of February, he will be alarmed about his side’s defensive frailties.
WGC were never behind in this victory, but seemed unable to hold onto their advantage apart from the final 15 minutes, after skipper Brad Wadkins had put them ahead for the fourth time in the game, with what proved the decisive goal.
Weatherstone rang the changes in his defence for this game, after the disappointing 3-2 loss at Barton 10 days earlier.
Donnabhan Green replaced Charlie Crowley between the posts, James Mulley moved to right-back at Alex Harris’ expense and Josh Bryant was preferred to Ryan Kirwan at left-back.
The opening 15 minutes were comparatively quiet, except for a Dernell Wynter free-kick that home keeper Tyler Joseph saved at the second attempt and a flying, powerful header from Lawrie Marsh for the home side that flew over Green’s crossbar.
The scoring frenzy began on 18 minutes.
Wynter played in Gucci Soulya-Osekanongo down the WGC right and his powerful cross-shot into the area bounced off home defender Mike Fisher and into his own net.
Green made a fine save from Biggy’s Alex Marsh to preserve the lead two minutes later and a minute after that, Welwyn got their second.
Wadkins found Cyrus Babaie who in turn played Lynton Goss through to slip his effort past keeper Joseph.
But the Citizens only held that lead six minutes before one-time WGC man, Dan Bond, got away down the right to outpace Josh Steele and pull the ball back for home skipper Tom Coles.
His driven effort was deflected past Green by a full length attempt to block from James Kaloczi.
Inside two minutes it was 2-2. The home side spread the play across to the left and to left-back Luke Ostwick, who struck a stunning, rising 30 yarder high into the WGC net, with keeper Green unable to move a muscle.
The crazy scoring sequence continued was not done though.
Within another two minutes, the visiting Clarets had re-taken the lead, Jack Vasey slotting through a fine ball that Wynter cleverly turned into Goss’s path for the new WGC striker to slip into the far corner, his third goal in just two WGC appearances.
And as the goal fest moved into five minutes of stoppage time, Welwyn stretched into a 4-2 lead.
Wadkins put in a high ball in from the right and Babaie challenged keeper Joseph in the air.
The ball came loose to Vasey, who struck a powerful effort that was blocked in the goalmouth, but Wynter was quick to the rebound and crashed it high into the net.
That was three minutes into stoppage time. Two minutes later, the home side were back within a goal, in the final attack of the half.
The pacy Alex Marsh outstripped Josh Bryant to get to the by-line and pulled it back for Bond to smuggle it over the line to close a seven goal opening 45 minutes.
In comparison, the opening 20 minutes of the second period was a tame affair.
Little happened of note as WGC held their slender advantage until 65 minutes, when Lawrie Marsh produced the ball of the match, striking it through from fully 40 yards to send his identical twin haring into the WGC area.
Alex cut in, evading several WGC attempts to dispossess him and waited his time before planting a shot past Green for 4-4, midway through the half.
At that point it looked as though the momentum for the final 20 minutes might be with the home side.
But WGC had other ideas and on 73 minutes, having forced a couple of corners, Wadkins snuck in on the far post to place a strong header past Joseph and inside the post
That settled the result with the final quarter producing little more than a number of changes on both sides, WGC taking the three points in a barnstorming game for any neutrals among the 90 strong crowd.
WGC: Green, Mulley, Kaloczi, Steele, Bryant, Vasey (Harris 85), Soulya-Osekanongo, Wadkins, Wynter, Goss, Babaie (Jordan 90).
