Despite the rain and gusty weather forecast, there was a good turnout by Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club's racing at Stanborough Lakes.
Gusts caught out the boats on a number of occasions, hindering both the experienced and newcomers, and it led to the deployment of the safety boat far more regularly than normal, righting capsized double-handers and getting boats off a lee-shore.
Among the carnage, Annette Walter was still able to charge clear and win the Auld Wee Mug and the personal handicap races, all despite having to borrow a boat.
She also won overall.
David Lambert won the fast fleet races while Angelo Hansen was yet again first junior and second in the slow fleet with Mike Dilks and Charles Adams tied for third.
Ruth Burr and Frida were the first of the double-handers and second in the fast fleet.
