Potters Bar Town slumped to a fifth straight defeat but manager Max Mitchell says their horrendous run of fixtures is impacting on their results.
The Scholars have played nine games in a month and still have five games to go before the season ends on April 27, the first of which is tonight at home to Canvey Island.
But even though they lost 3-1 at Enfield Town on Saturday, the boss said there was plenty of pleasing aspects to their performance.
He said: "The boys are out on their feet and we have to get right behind them at these times.
"We could fall away or we could all get together and go again. There's football to be played and we can moan about it but we just need to get out there.
"Maybe it is affecting our game plan a little bit but we have to take responsibility and accountability and we have to play with a certain pride and character.
"The boys did that against Enfield.
"In terms of our application and imposing ourselves on them, we were brilliant and it was another case of missed chances.
"In terms of their goals, it was just slips in concentration and when you come up against a good Enfield side, they'll punish you and that's what they did.
"Just slips in concentration and when you are losing games, and you have lost games, there is a little bit of a confidence element.
"We are on a bit of a skid at the moment and this is when you need to stick together. As long as the application is there and we're [still] trying to apply the game plan, which worked in moments.
"It's just the small margins that we're not getting at the moment."
One of those moments was when Enfield went down to 10 men, Mickey Parcell given a straight red, but Mitchell felt a dismissal should come earlier.
The Bar boss said: "I thought it was a straight red but I felt their forward got away with one too many in the first half.
"I felt they were clear and obvious and our expectations is the officials get those decisions right but I understand they are not going to get them all right.
"Those fine margins, we're not getting and if we are at home, maybe we get one of those and it changes the game.
"We changed shape after that moment and again we created lots of chances but just didn't take them.
"We got one and if we had got another it would have put them on the back foot but Enfield saw the game out well in injury time."
One big positive through was goalscorer Temi Babalola.
Mitchell said: "I felt Temi had a freshness about him, he's been struggling with his hip flexor and that's why we rested him against Margate.
"But he came on and played well and he showed signs of that six or seven game stretch where he was unplayable.
"He got on the end of things and could he have more? He'll be the first to say yes and we feel he could get more goals, he's such a character, but he's putting in the work rate and credit to him."
