One week on from the London Marathon and there were very different events for Garden City Runners to sink their teeth into.
The Calderdale Ultra is a 50k route which starts in Brighouse and finishes at Heptonstall on the other side of Halifax.
GCR had three at the event with Kath Evans, Alex Yates and Elaine Giles all taking on the challenge.
Evans said: "We covered moorlands, woodland trails, as well as passing through some working farmland, and we were given some seriously scenic views across West Yorkshire.
"There were plenty of challenging climbs with a bit of mud and boulder clambering thrown it too."
Closer to home, the Bison Trail at Dunstable Downs took runners over a 6.5k course with multiple lap options available.
It proved a touch more difficult than planned for Willow Gibson, Tendy St Francis and Charlotte Jones.
St Francis said: "I was slightly defeated by the Bison, completing two laps instead of my target of three.
"The rain and mud proved too much for my road shoes. I fell twice but no damage was done."
The club had 96 taking on parkruns this week, both across Herts and beyond.
At Gadebridge in Leighton Buzzard, Richard Somerset was fourth overall while Barbara Kubis-Labiak and Caroline Griffith were fourth and fifth ladies.
Chris Dungate was fifth in Bexley, the same position as Adam Wadley at Stevenage.
Behind him, Martin Mitchell was seventh and Caroline Hale and Felicity Wadley third and eighth lady
GCRs' home parkrun Panshanger saw Chris Baylis take the win in 18 minutes 32 seconds while Bruce Judge was sixth in 19.47 and Simon Bostock ninth in 20:32.
Hannah Frank placed third lady in 23:53 with Rebecca Barden sixth in 24:58 and Katy Healy seventh 11 seconds later.
International events were taken up by Samantha Hastie, Sharon Threlfall and Willow Gibson, at Jablonna Palace in Poland, and by Steve Grout at Rome’s Caffarella.
The most northerly parkrun in England, Alnwick, was graced by Louise Beale, Jo Grant with the latter finishing as fourth female and Beale the ninth.
