The weather may have turned milder in recent days but there has been plenty of unwanted days down at Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club.
One week's racing was wiped out totally as strong winds and nasty gusts made it unpalatable for sailors, and it turned out to be windier than forecast when the boats were on the water in another outing.
This took its toll very early on as a small turnout for the handicap racing was almost halved by the end of the first lap.
In the fast fleet Dave Lambert won both races while Patrick Rohart, in his first race after wintering in France, got up to speed in race two having been off the pace in race one.
He stayed close to Lambert and was leading until close to the end when he had to do a penalty turn.
Angelo Hansen and Charles Adams swapped places through race one according to their fortunes with the wind.
Eventually a capsize and a penalty turn put Hansen out of contention for a win in the slow fleet
The conditions favoured the slow fleet and Adams won race one overall with Hansen third. Lambert was second in the overpowered Supernova.
Race two was reduced to a fleet of three with Hansen winning on handicap ahead of Lambert and Rohart.
