Bowls clubs continued their season in all competitions under a mixture of sun and heavy rain.
Shire Park Bowls Club (Tewin) hosted the county trails for ladies under hot sunshine.
Five rinks were used with bacon rolls and liquid refreshment being supplied by the hosts.
Shire Park had their own games to entertain them too.
One was a very enjoyable friendly at home to Flitwick, even if the hosts lost 76-75.
Their top rink was Catriona Griggs, Linda Draycott and skip Bill Draycott who won 29-5.
A wet match away to Welwyn Garden City resulted in another close game, but this time a win for Park by 59-56.
This time the top rink was Chris Goode, Bernie Kleiser and skip Gus Edwards.
The rest of the week was blighted by bad weather, with matches being postponed.
However, in the Welwyn Hatfield League Shire Park gained four points away to Knebworth.
That was thanks to a heavy win by the rink of Elaine Wulcko, Linda Draycott and skip Bill Draycott.
Datchworth also had to contend with the weather on a shortened week.
They played away to Luton Co-Op on drizzly afternoon and came back with a 63-51 loss, their highest winning rink being Annette Hutchinson, Howard Carrick and Steve Arnold, who lost just five ends in their 21-8 success.
A mixed friendly away to Potters Bar for and had to borrow some home players to make up their numbers.
They would loss three of the five rinks and the game, 81-73.
The top rink was that of Mike Usher, Rupert Maxim, Maureen Blunt and Rob Hazeu who also lost only five ends as they won 27-5.
Their only other winning rink was Sue Ellis, Terry Barker, Terry Metcalf and Steve Chamberlain who won 18-14.
