Herts Cricket Premier Division: Potters Bar destroy Radlett

Having lost the toss, they destroyed the visitors' batting line-up before knocking off the runs required inside 17 overs, winning by nine wickets.

It leaves them 15 adrift of leaders Harpenden, who recorded their sixth win of the campaign, beating Hertford by five wickets.

Bar tore into the visitors from the word go, with Jigar Mehta bowling Dom Chatfield for a third-ball duck and then got Abhijay Singh to snick one behind

But it was Ashleigh Cox who was the true star of the show.

He had Radlett skipper Fraser Crawford heading back to the pavilion after top edging one to Thilan Walallawita, and that was the first of seven wickets for the all-rounder.

He had four wickets in seven balls, conceding no runs off any of them, as Radlett plummeted to 24-7.

He eventually finished on 7-32, bettered only five times at the club since 2001, and only a sensible bit of play between Dave Burnell, Tom Jenkins and Md Nidheesh prevented a complete horror show for Radlett, all out for 87.

Steve Gale and James Scott, in his 150th league appearance for the Potters Bar first team, made short work of the reply.

Gale went for 41, passing 5,000 runs for Potters Bar, while Scott remained unbeaten on 45.

For the second week in a row, North Mymms had a derby to keep them entertained, although this time they could celebrate victory, beating Old Owens by 115 runs.

Viv Paver and skipper Nesan Jeyaratnam took the plaudits here with a stunning third-wicket partnership of 184 as Mymms powered to 267-3 in 55 overs.

Jeyaratnam was the man to fall, run out for 84 as he attempted to push a single into a double in the penultimate over.

That had been made from 110 deliveries and contained 11 fours and a six.

Paver pushed on though and had reached 105 when the innings came to an end, adding three more sixes than his partner in crime but the same number of fours.

Owens then had an awful start, losing both openers inside three overs for just seven runs.

Danyaal Khalid (27) and Jack Timms (12) stemmed the bleeding for a bit but both of them had departed in 18 overs, leaving Owens on 51-4.

They even put thoughts of a draw into the unlikely category, even if Chris Palmer bludgeoned 57 in 67 balls.

He was eighth man out with the score on 121, and crucially, with more than 15 overs remaining.

What followed was a superb attempt by Owens, and Tanvay Ahmed and Robert Sibley in particular.

Ahmed faced 37 deliveries but saw them all of, scoring just one as he attempted a brave resistance.

He eventually fell though to ball number 38, leaving Owens all out for 152 with 25 balls still to come.

Sibley was unbeaten on 26.

Will Jones led the Mymms bowling with 3-19 while Dharmarajsinh Jhala, Yuvresh Malhotra and Richard Oxley all chipping in with two each.

Mymms are now fifth with a home game against Bishop's Stortford next.

Owens are eighth and head to Radlett on Saturday.
