Cuffley FC has held its annual football tournament, giving young players the chance to compete in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.

The competition is in its 39th year and was sponsored for the second year running by local homebuilder Bellway, which is building next door to club’s ground off Northaw Road East.

The company donated £500 to the club to spend on running the event on June 8 and 9.

This year's event attracted around 1,500 players and 3,000 spectators.

Lee Kisby, chairman of Cuffley FC, said: ”Our tournament is a crucial event in our football calendar, marking the end of another season while raising funds for the 2024/2025 season.

"With support from many sponsors, such as Bellway, this event significantly benefits our football club and helps maintain the tournament’s reputation as the largest and most established in Hertfordshire.”

Zoe Dobbs, Bellway North London sales manager, said: “We believe it is so important to support local grassroots organisations such as Cuffley FC, particularly as some of the young people living at King George’s Vale may go on to become part of the club in the future."

Bellway’s donation paid for a range of items, including pitch side flags and banners as well as match footballs and contributions to match officials' fees.

The company is current building 121 homes next door to King George V Playing Fields, where the club is based.
