There was plenty of wonderful scenery to admire amid the events taken up by some from Garden City Runners this week.
Richard Darley made a trip to the heart of Midsomer Murder country to take on the Burnham Beeches Half Marathon, a two-lap race through Burnham Beeches, a nature reserve owned and managed by the Corporation of London.
Running in the dappled shade of the ancient woodland kept the temperatures pleasant especially when tackling the uphill parts of the gently undulating course.
Darley finished in a time of two hours 17 minutes 23 seconds, running with an ex-work colleague.
Five GCRs took on the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) 32-mile coastal stretch tilted the Dorset Doddle.
But if Barbara Kubis-Labiak, Johan Preis, Roger Adey, Alex Yates and Kath Evans, crewed by Richard Somerset, were expecting a gentle stroll along the cliffs, they were in for a shock.
Evans said: "The coastal path route from Weymouth to Swanage provided stunning views and plenty of steep hills.
"This was Barbara's second time completing this challenge and she'd led us to believe this would be an enjoyable ultra, however some participants looked truly broken by the experience.
"One hill included 219 very steep steps but we were well fuelled and we all agreed we had an awesome day out."
