The penultimate weekend in the Herts Cricket League brought Welwyn Garden City and Tewin to their ultimate goals.
WGC are heading to a promotion play-off against either Shenley Village or Bishop's Stortford as they look for an instant return to the Premier Division.
And they did it with a glorious show of batting in the Championship, smashing 384-7 in a 146-run success at home to already relegated St Albans.
They put on 338 for the first three wickets at Digswell Park, Jacob Logan the first man out for 67 in 55 balls, hitting 11 fours and a six and then Dylan Dhesi went for 75.
Opener Fayaz Homyoon pressed on though and would eventually be out after scoring 165 from 130 deliveries, 21 of them going for four and five for six.
By that time there was only a little more than six overs to go but they had already claimed the victory.
To their credit St Albans batted well and would finish 238-7 but WGC were always in control of the innings, having got them at 75-4 inside 20 overs.
Radhakrishna Marripati lead the Welwyn bowling with 3-35 while there was 2-54 from Connor Emerton.
They play away to Preston on the final day of the regular season before the play-off game.
Tewin are tantalisingly close to being crowned champions in Division Three A after a seven-wicket win away to St Albans II.
Promotion is already in the bag but they face second-placed Bushey at home on Saturday, knowing they will lift the title if they take five bowling or batting points.
Their win over Saints saw them put the Clarence Park hosts into bat and restrict them to 130 all out.
Paul Shankster led the way with 3-10 in 7.4 overs but all six bowlers used took wickets, Josh Crutchett and Tom Woods the others to take more than one.
In reply the target was passed in 27 overs, skipper Luke Wilde scoring 59 not out in 54 balls with nine fours and a six.
Datchworth have very faint hopes of promotion but will finish third at the very least.
They are 28 points behind Bushey after a 11-run victory away to Potton Town.
They made 208 batting first and bowled the home side out for 197 after 45.4 overs.
Knebworth Park lost by four wickets away to Rickmansworth in Division Two B
Louis Champion (23) and Haydon Bartlett-Tasker (59) gave them a solid start but from there they crumbled and finished on 132.
And despite 3-36 from Charlie Randall and Gareth Jones's 2-28, the home side eased to victory in 37 overs.
Hatfield & Crusaders lost by 49 runs at home to Cheshunt Rosedale in Division Four A.
Ben Clark, Ian Golder and Saurabh Bezalwar each took two wickets as they dropped to sixth.
Hatfield Hyde meanwhile slumped to a second defeat in three to end their promotion chances in Division Four B.
They lost by eight wickets at home to Holtwhites Trinibis, only Kasun Nissanka with 33 doing any damage with the bat.
