The absence of some of Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club's stars allowed others to take the spotlight in the latest round of races on Stanborough Lakes.
Many were away at other events so it was left to two of the remaining regulars to battle it out.
Charles Adams prevailed with wins in both races with Mike Caddy second.
Paul Lohr who has been tinkering and getting used to his Mirror dinghy was only fifth in race one but it all came together for a third place in the second.
Behind them there was a family battle with Alexander Burr prevailing over his father Kevin to be first in the Quba fleet.
Mick Wolanski was not far behind them followed by Neil Hewitt making one of his rare outings in a single hander.
With the wind strengthening Neil and Sandro D’Onofrio opted out of race two.
